I really admire the creativity that’s been going into the last couple Lizard Kisses releases (remember their CD that could be played on a record player?). Well, they are back at it again, this time with a split 7” with Canadians My Friend Wallis.
“Both bands made collages for their respective sides of the 7”, making each one unique and one of a kind. You can view all 35 individual record sleeves here. The clear lathe cut records were hand-pressed to a numbered edition of 35 and include typed inserts on vellum. The sleeves were sent back and forth between Brooklyn, New York and Vancouver, Canada over the course of a few months.”
The covers are all lovely and who doesn’t like owning the one and only copy of something? And on top of the originality of the packaging, the tunes within are great as well (and the two track fit nicely together). The Lizard Kisses track also includes two of my other favourite music makers, Jordan Lee (of Mutual Benefit) and Andrew Morehart (of Share-a-tories). ‘Water Tap’ is a nice reminder that warm weather is on the way.
You can digitally download both 7” tracks for whatever price you want (get the Lizard Kisses track here and the My Friend Wallis track here) and the special see-through vinyl + unique sleeve can be pre-ordered here (the release date is set for March 6th).
But don’t sleep on the pre-order, as there are only 35 to be had.
