I think this is the first time that I’ve heard of Harrison Hudson, although something tells me that I must have heard about them before and then forgot about them. They definitely sound like the kind of band I would have latched onto after a first listen, but these days it is so easy to miss out on / forget about bands that are brewing your cup of tea. Who knows. Definitely a Manchester Orchestra / Right Away, Great Captain! vibe to them, which isn’t surprising seeing as how they are all Favorite Gentlemen.
I was either introduced, or re-introduced to the Harrison Hudson’s brilliant album American Thunder by a new music service called The Sound Supply. What they do is handpick 10 great albums (American Thunder being one) and make that whole package available for $15 (and that package is available for 10 days, and I guess a new one goes up after that, and so on and so on and… just watch their video explanation). And $15 for 10 albums is a pretty good steal of a deal, even in these streaming and stealing times we live in. They’ve also done a pretty great job of selecting an interesting mix of artists / albums, a lot of which I wasn’t really familiar with. Although, I already own a few of the albums, which stole some of the intrigue of trying out their service the first time around. But I’ll definitely keep my eyes on them (perhaps they’ll introduce the option of swapping out a couple albums for ones you don’t have?).
