An Update on the ‘Snake Cult’ Post…
I just posted a catchy as hell song by Just Another Snake Cult, and I had remarked how I had no idea what the song was about, or even how to pronounce the title (to be fair the songs title is ‘stóriðjuverkefnið mig’, so I’m pretty sure a large portion of the globe can’t pronounce it). And then, a little after posting that post, Just Another Snake Cult posted a comment explaining the song:
The song was composed to lyrics from our friend’s book of poems that were algorithmically composed using the language from Iceland’s Special Investigative Report on the Collapse. The result being lyrics that sound like they are very relevant but are mostly nonsensical. The title means “Heavy industry project me” where “heavy industry project” is used as a verb due to a misunderstanding by the program.
The song was used as the closing credits to the Icelandic documentary ‘Ge9n’ (“A9ainst” in English), which was about the nine protesters erroneously charged with attempting to overthrow parliament following Iceland’s 2008 economic collapse.
So there you go. Quite interesting and informative. And now you can listen to ‘stóriðjuverkefnið mig’, bob your head and tap your feet, all whilst thinking about economic collapse.
