WatchWatch
Inspired And The Sleep just made the second single (off their upcoming album Teenagers) available as a free download. And it even comes with this pre Mad Men era, lady lifeguards video. Which Max admits to being an ode to not just his summer job as a lifeguard (he wrote the lyrics to the upcoming Teenagers from his lifeguard tower), but also an ode to his obsession with women. Be warned, this...

Observations whilst making my end of year list…
When I was putting together my list of favourite albums (a task that always takes more time than one would like to admit), I noticed a few things. These are those things: 1. How come so many bands —of the mid to high level of ‘made it or making it’ range — are not using Bandcamp? On my list of 30 albums, only 9 of the bands are on Bandcamp, and a good handful of those bands were not ‘properly’...

Favourite Albums - 2011
(click here to listen to my ‘Favourite Albums of 2011’ mix tape on 8tracks) First thing first, there was way too much music released this year. Not that this is a problem that needs to be fixed. It’s just a pill that one needs to swallow as they put together their own list, while taking little peaks at others.  I tried my best to keep up this year. But try as I might, there...

HAPPY CHRISTMAS | DEC2011
HAPPY CHRISTMAS | DEC2011 by Hi54lofi on Mixcloud As sick as I get from hearing Christmas music this time of year, I realize that the sickness is really just in hearing too much of Michael Buble doing his Sinatra impression and Josh Groban doing himself. And Mariah Carey’s rendition of Santa Baby. Over and over again , in every single store. Even when I’m just trying to pick...

– - Louis CK Louis CK has sort of become the Radiohead of comedy. By that I mean, he has built a strong following by doing what he does completely on his own terms and doing it better than his peers, which has allowed him to have the confidence to take the releasing of his own product entirely into...

Reply to a reply: Year End Lists
flamgirlant replied to your post: The Black Keys just released El Camino… I agree (despite having posted my list) but I need to time to digest albums. Is really a “best of” when I’ve only had 2 weeks to listen to it? How do I know if it’s really love or just an intense flirtation? I simply need more time? I SIMPLY NEED MORE TIME. I agree about needing time to digest albums, I was just...

Benjamin Shaw
I also love Benjamin Shaw. Besides the video interview / sing song that he did for The 405, and besides the Pictionary Q&A that he also did for the 405; besides his brilliant new album and his brilliant previous albums (Pox and Rumfucker), he also is just a good spirited gentleman, who not only braved driving on the wrong side of the road and started every morning with sun shine during our...

– - Chuck Klosterman The worlds finest pop culture writer perfectly sums up Lou Reed and Metallica’s album Lulu. If you haven’t listened to it yet, and that description makes you curious, stream it in full on Loutallica’s official website (I think there is a prize for anyone who...
