bandcamp keeps it classy
while The 61* went with the crazy surprise approach for their sites development, Bandcamp appears to have decided to just keep being awesome. they just posted a great blog about there recent developments. its inspiring to see a website continue to do something cool and write so well about it.

NEW FRIENDLY -- The Hillfields
the hillfields - down on you
we’ve been meaning to get The Hillfields setup as friendlies for a bit now, but time can be short on supply. their album of indie pop nuggets has been out for awhile now, through our friends at Underused Records (who co-released a Singer of Songs latest Old Happiness).
you can listen to The Hillfields - It’ll Never be the Same Again over on our...

drama on the 61
not sure how much everyone else was left shell shocked by the redesign of the 61 a couple days ago (mom, i’m guessing your fine?), but i was pretty shocked. so were a lot of other people. their facebook page is a good spot to see that.
i won’t get into it much and i’ll try to find a balance between being dramatic and not being dramatic. but basically, they completely changed...

driving down the 61
we just started a Hi-Five for Lo-Fi Records page on The 61. if you’ve never used it before, its a pretty cool site for discovering / listening to music.
apparently the best way to use it as an artist is to slowly upload your music, as it takes some time building up listeners and you don’t want your own songs fighting against each other for ‘hearts’. i think some people use...

on the player - the archives
as some of you may know, we use our myspace player as a sort of mix tape. in fact, there is one up now that you can listen to. now this has never happened yet, but i’m sure you can imagine this scenario:
i get a message from some one saying, “these mix tapes are great, but everytime you update with a new one, i can no longer listen to the old ones. what up with that?”
well,...

'hey hey my my'space mix cd (jan 2010)
hello everybody, welcome to the first ‘hey hey my my’space mix cd of 2010.
i was conflicted on whether i would keep doing these every month now that i’m a lot busier than i used to be, and a lot less people use myspace now a days. well, its still a great place for finding great bands. like these.
(if your new to this, the links go to each artists myspace page)

precious
i just got back from watching the movie precious (the less catchy official name of the movie is “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”) and if i could only use one word to describe this movie, that word would be ‘heavy’.
i know that might come across as me making a fat joke, but really it isn’t (although i’m sure ‘heavy’...
